Jarell Perry - Butterflies (Michael Jackson Cover)

Posted 2 years ago
Producer:
HSVN
Album:
None (Promo Single)

In the wake of posthumous album XSCAPE‘s arrival on store shelves earlier this month, listeners everywhere have been revisiting the King of Pop’s classic material—indie crooner Jarell Perry included. On his latest promo single, the unsigned crooner puts a 2014 spin on Butterflies, the final single off Michael Jackson‘s 2001 Invincible LP. Whereas the MJ/Andre Harris-produced original had a crisp, understated R&B vibe, this rendition is heavy on the atmospherics. HSVN handles production duties, cooking up a spacey synth-percussion beat to back Perry’s dizzying multitracked harmonies. Butterflies isn’t attached to a larger set, but those digging it are encouraged to check out the artist’s recent covers of Beyoncé‘s Blow and Drake‘s Own It.
