Jason Derulo - In My Head

Posted 6 years ago
Producer:
Jonathan "J.R." Rotem
Album:
Jason Derulo

In his recent, Booth-exclusive interview with DJ Z, Jason Derulo assured his fans that his smash hit debut single, Whatcha Say, was only the beginning of what he had to offer, stating, “I reinvent myself with each track.” Follow-up selection In My Head may sound like the work of the same artist, but it’s definitely a change of pace. Here, Derulo works the R&B/pop/rock fusion angle, letting listeners know just what he’d like to do with a certain female clubgoer as J.R. Rotem delivers a beat driven by rhythmic electric-guitar riffs and scorching synths. With the subject matter of a steamy club cut (“Instead of talking, let me demonstrate/ Get down to business and skip foreplay.”) and a catchy, sugary pop sound, IMH has a little bit of a split personality – can Jason Derulo have it both ways? As always, I’ll let Booth readers have the final say. If you like what you’re hearing, keep it locked to the front page for all the latest news and tunes leading up to the first-quarter 2010, release of Derulo’s self-titled debut studio album.
