Jason James - A View of the World [Premiere]

Album:
Marvelous World of Color

While the title of Jason James and Rodney Hazard‘s Marvelous World of Color mixtape implies hope for a brighter tomorrow, the Vancouver emcee and his behind-the-boards partner seem to believe that the only way to get there is by confronting our darkest demons – every last one of ‘em. Making its world premiere in the Booth, A View of the World finds the emcee also known as WEB once again looking at life through a dark lyrical lens. I.D.E.A.‘s piano-led instrumental sets an appropriately pensive mood as the emcee ponders whether, in a world so filled with trouble and strife, coming together in solidarity is a real possibility. Ultimately, James rules in favor of being “our brothers’ keepers,” quoting the heavily modified version of Ezekiel 25:17 made famous by Jules in Pulp Fiction. Finally, he sends us off with a cryptic remark about music as ‘self-therapy’. What does it all mean? I’ll let readers hash that out. One thing’s for sure, though; a veritable buffet of food for thought can be found on WEB and I.D.E.A.‘s Booth-sponsored mixtape, set to hit the Booth for streaming and free download August 11.
