Jay Electronica ft. Mobb Deep - Call of Duty (Modern Warfare 3)

Jay Electronica

None (Promo Single)

While I don’t follow the massively popular Modern Warfare series, a quick Google search assures me that the latest entry, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, is poised to utterly revolutionize the console gaming industry when it drops Nov. 8. Considering that hip-hop heads seem to harbor similar hope vis-à-vis Jay Electronica‘s impact on the rap game, it’s quite appropriate that the underground mainstay takes inspiration from the massively hyped title on the latest single off his Roc Nation debut. Here, Elec’s martial sample work (mixed by Young Guru, and led off with a rousing snippet of Winston Churchill’s Trinity Sunday speech) sets the moods as the headliner marshals his forces to mobilize for change: “We can heal the planet with an organized effort / The Jews and the Christians and the Muslims and the Buddhists and the Sikhs and Scientologists is all of my brethren.Mobb Deep‘s Prodigy acts as Jay’s Lieutenant General, lending his deadpan vocals to the guest verses and hook. How about it, readers: are you ready and willing to follow Jay Elec into battle? Then stay tuned for further details on the artist’s long-awaited studio album, Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn).
