Jay Electronica ft. Jay-Z & The-Dream - Shiny Suit Theory

Featuring:
Producer:
Jay Electronica & Jeymes Samuel
Album:
Act 2: Patents of Nobility (the turn)

Humphrey Bogart would be proud. With red curtain cinema dipped in 1920’s bravado, Roc Nation‘s newest member Jay Electronica gives his audience a tip of the hat with his latest release, Shiny Suit Theory, featuring new boss man Jay-Z and The-Dream. An opener to a great film that hip-hop is waiting to see unfold, Jay Elec steps on stage to his own (along with Jeymes Samuel) produced ensemble prompted with flavors of the Harlem Renaissance and the fat cat jazz era. Rock’s familiar bass is blended with trumpets and piano keys, matching Jay Elec’s rhymes of past conversations with Puff and future ambitions perfectly. Of course Jay-Z delivers, but he honestly lacks connection to the rookie’s verse, making one wonder what the song is about. My advice: read the lyrics. It’s still a winner with a little tweak on The-Dream’s vocals, and some bar crowd sound effects, making the atmosphere for Shiny Suit Theory perfect for big cigars and brandy. The real celebration will begin when we get a release date for Jay Electronica’s album Act 2: Patents of Nobility (the turn). Roc Nation is turning into the modern day Rat Pack.
