Jhené Aiko - Burning Man (3:16pm)

None (Promo Single)

Held annually in California’s Black Rock Desert, Burning Man is a week-long smorgasboard of drugs, artistic expression, partying, networking and did I mention drugs? Since this year’s incarnation of the festival isn’t for a while yet (it’s scheduled for late August), Def Jam pop songstress Jhené Aiko has decided to recreate the revelry in miniature in her latest video single, a sequel to 2012’s Booth-acclaimed 3:16am. In contrast to its predecessor, a pensive jam addressing themes of loneliness and alienation, this record is an upbeat ode to chemically-assisted good times with great friends. Fisticuffs provides an effervescent synth beat to back the artist’s carefree verses, and director Topshelf Junior complements the cut’s vibe on the visual tip. Burning Man is just a promotional single, but those digging it should stay tuned for the latest on Jhené‘s major-label debut set, on track for release later this year.
