Joe Budden - Castles
With the second season of Game of Thrones less than two weeks away, I could not be more excited. Perhaps I am too pumped up because I saw the title of Joe Budden’s latest, Castles, and figured it would be an epic ode to the Medieval-themed program. Budden’s effort has nothing to do with the novel-turned-HBO hit show, but it is equally as awesome. The Slaughterhouse founder, known for his brash, unapologetic style, flips the scripts on this poignant cut, which comes equipped with a set of visuals. Backed by a soft, echoing beat from co-producers Vinylz and Allen Ritter, Budden gets introspective, giving viewers insight into some of the problems that face the veteran emcee. Equipped with a heartfelt, almost pained demeanor Budden spits lines like, “you wasn’t there for the ride, don’t be there when I park”, reminding those who plan to piggy back off of his success that he still isn’t one to f**k with. Castles can be found on his the Jersey native’s third studio album, No Love Lost, out now via eOne.
