John Regan - Suicide ediciuS

Sorry I'm Late

If you visited the Booth looking for a little light entertainment, you may want to click on… well, just about anything else. If, on the other hand, you’re craving something a little heavier, with the potential to shake up your perspective on life and death, Suicide ediciuS may be just what the doctor ordered. On this newly-leaked album cut, John Regan looks back on one of his darkest moments; accompanied by Michigan beatsmith Needlz’ haunting strings, he exhaustively recounts his thoughts and actions leading up to an suicide attempt, concluding “Heaven or hell, who knows? Let’s just hope for the best.” On the back, he pulls the rug out from under us, shifting gears to retell the events of verse one in reverse. After a climax worthy of a Christopher Nolan film, in which he unseals the envelope holding his suicide note and erases the contents, the narrator resumes his life, grateful that the man upstairs had seen fit to offer him a second chance. When emotional resonance and clever storytelling come together like this, it’s hard to say more than “Damn.” Agree? Then you’ll most definitely want to check out Regan’s Sorry I’m Late LP, available now.
