UPDATE: “Bed of Roses” is no longer available to stream.

Here in D.C., August means humidity and pollen; it also means trouble for anyone with allergies. Because of this, I popped an Allegra (Now I’m sweating, woo!) before listening to Bed of Roses, the latest single from Johnny Spanish. While no flowers were, to my knowledge, used in the making of this cut, it is certainly as colorful as a big bouquet. Here, Spanish tells the tale of a love he thought was dead, but might end up being eternal (Sorry for the Hallmark-y explanation). Johnny’s hybrid vocal style, which is heavily rooted in R&B, still has a distinct hip-hop flavor. That flavor is accented by Oliver Stoned‘s intoxicating, bubbly production. If Bed of Roses leaves you wanting more, be sure to check out Spanish’s DJBooth-hosted Home LP, available now for free streaming and download.
