Jon Connor ft. Talib Kweli - Rise Up

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
Optiks
Album:

If Jon Connor is, as the title of his next album suggests, in an Unconscious State, he must be one of those coma patients who hears and remembers everything that happens despite the appearance of being out cold. New single Rise Up is not the work of an emcee with his eyes and ears closed to the world around him. On this fiery, politically-charged jam, Optiks’ layers brass and vocal samples over a punchy drum loop (the latter borrowed from Surprize’s Keep on Truckin’) as the artist urges his people to shake off corrupting influences and take their destiny into their own hands. The Prisoner of Conscious himself, Talib Kweli, delivers an equally passionate, thought-provoking 16 on the back. Featuring Rise Up, the reader-approved Michigan Sh*t and many more fresh cuts, Jon Connor’s forthcoming full-length has yet to receive a drop date. Keep it locked for further release details, as well as all the latest tunes!
