Joyner Lucas - Dear America (Don’t Shoot)

Posted one year ago
Producer:
Khep
Album:

The shooting death of Michael Brown and the ensuing chaos in Ferguson, Missouri have forced black Americans to once again confront the fact that, thanks to institutional racism, they’re risking their lives every time they step outside their front door. The latest of many hip-hop artists to weigh in on the subject, Joyner Lucas gives voice to his rage and frustration with the country he calls home on Dear America (Don’t Shoot). Backed by frequent collaborator Khep‘s quietly intense production, Lucas makes it known that he regards the police’s behavior as a declaration of war, and snarls,“I should burn a f**kin’ flag down!” This powerful jam isn’t part of a larger set, but we’ll keep you supplied with the latest from the freestyle series alum as we learn more about his plans.
