JR & PH7 ft. Brokn Englsh & St. Joe Louis - Bloody Sunday

JR & PH7
Album:

A Cologne, Germany-repping beat crew who know the fundamentals of hip-hop better than many of their stateside counterparts—as amply demonstrated in past features Let’s Get It and Top RankJR & PH7 are back to turn heads once again with their latest EP single. Taking its title from Bloody Sunday, an infamously violent 1972 episode in the “Troubles” of Northern Ireland (also the subject of one of U2’s biggest hits), this joint finds the twosome crafting a headphone-ready boom-bap instrumental to back Jersey crew Brokn Englsh (Myk Dyaleks, Cion Burris, and Lyriq2Go) and fellow Garden State native St. Joe Louis as they wax lyrical about the current climate of political disenchantment (“The people are broke, the elections are fixed / You try to spread the news, they say ‘It is what is is.’”), as well as expressing their determination to succeed in the cutthroat world of the music industry. Like what you’re hearing? For more throwback grooves and fresh guest bars, check out JR & PH7’s My Favorite Demons EP when it hits store shelves and online retailers January 10.
