K-Salaam & Beatnick ft. Michael Jackson - Never Can Say Goodbye (Remix)

Posted 7 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
K-Salaam & Beatnick
Album:
Unreleased

After impressing DJBooth.net readers with their remixes of classic Common tracks (which gave rise to an entire Common remix album), up-and-coming producers K-Salaam & Beatnick have turned their attentions on the “King of Pop” himself.  The duo’s latest remix finds them revamping Michael Jackson‘s 1971 hit Never Can Say Goodbye, a soulful cut from the singer’s early days with the Jackson 5.  Though this update forgoes the cooed backing vocals that lent emotional heft to the original record, the remix makes up the difference in musical complexity; surrounding Jackson’s voice with electronic ambience as well as vivid, ‘70s-style instrumentation, K-Salaam and Beatnick’s arrangement is both modern and undeniably retro.  Is this the beginning of a new remix series from the Minneapolis producers?  We’ll have to wait and see…
