Trilogy Chapter 2 / The Transition

There are few experiences more crushing than getting dumped, and then watching your ex walk straight into the arms of another guy (or girl). While I doubt there’s any cure for that brand of heartbreak besides a little distance and a lot of time, one thing that definitely won’t hurt is a little new music from longtime Booth favorites (and freestyle series alumni) K. Sparks and Jeff Chery. Mixtape leak I Bet He’s Nice finds beatsmith D. Roof flipping a sample from the Beach Boys’ catchily bummed-out breakup jam of the same name, but the rhymes the Queens phenom and his ATL-based cohort deliver over the synth-fortified instrumental are far from depressive – in fact, Sparks and Chery are in typically braggadocious form, the former dropping some rapid flows on the front, and the latter lacing the second half with more laid-back lyrical stunting. I Bet He’s Nice is set for inclusion on the Kevin Nottingham-presented second installment of K. SparksThe Trilogy series (the Booth-sponsored Chapter One is available here!) as well as on Chery’s The Transition street album, both set to drop “soon.”
