No longer content simply to bring joy to heads everywhere by spitting hot rhymes over banging production, perennial Booth fave K. Sparks has set his sights on something bigger with his latest project – as he puts it in the trailer, he wants to inspire listeners to follow their dreams and “Live their tomorrows, today.” That’s not to suggest the set will be short on hot rhymes or banging production – on the contrary, new single Drummer Boy is packed with both. Pajozo mans the boards, serving up a blend of synths, bells and – of course – high-impact percussion as the rapper unleashes his patented brand of allusive lyrical fire. He even manages to namedrop a fellow freestyle series alum: “Layin’ the Factz like somebody snuffed a Bronx rapper…” The headliner’s partner-in-rhyme on Ridin, True Dat and other reader-acclaimed cuts, J.D. takes over on the record’s latter half, bobbing and weaving his way through an aggressive closing 16. The end result is sure to leave Sparks devotees energized and ready to achieve their grand ambitions. And if you don’t happen to have any life goals, at least you’ll be pumped to pick up a copy of Tomorrow Today on April 5.
