K. Sparks - Gold Chain [Lightsaber Remix]

Jett I Masstyr
None (Promo Single)

As those who already tuned into our inaugural Remixed feature already know, we recently decided to close out our long-standing exclusive freestyle series. (Hey, all good things must come to an end.) But no fear lovers of exclusive DJBooth content, we’ve re-uped with the aforementioned Remixed series, inviting producers to put their own spin on Booth favorite records. Following Mulatto Patriot’s Booth-approved initial attempt, this week finds Jett I.Mastyr (guess what his favorite movie is) jumping behind the boards to attack K. SparksGold Chain. Here the Houston boardsmith, best known on our pages for his work with Hollywood Floss, El Prez and more, replaces the original’s darker, more haunting beat and instead offers a heavily horn laden beat that feels like it came straight from the Superfly soundtrack. “I wanted it to be more soulful/emotional than the original,” said Mastyr. “I believe I succeeded in that pursuit.” I’d have to agree, but as always you have the last say. How does this go around stack up to the original, and the original remix? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to keep it locked for more Remixed offerings and the release of Sparks’ upcoming Diagnosis: Success album, due to hit our homepage on September 19.
