Manic Mondays (#18)

In the course of his Manic Mondays series, South Jamaica, Queens emcee K. Sparks has proven himself as torchbearer for a new generation of tech-savvy, lyrically-gifted emcees.  On the 18th installment of the ongoing series, he and fellow NYC native Angelous (who you may remember from his Hova-esque guest contributions on Spittaz II and Rewind) go one step further, asserting their status as Rap Saviors.  It’s a lofty claim to be sure, but the record finds the two in suitably messianic form; Sparks provides yet another example of his ability to state his greatness in a consistently fresh and unique manner, while Angel offers a more relaxed but no less proficient verse, pairing creative cadences with polysyllabic rhymes. Big Drew‘s epic-sounding beat completes the picture, providing a fittingly grandiose accompaniment to the rappers’ heroic flows.  As a reminder, fans of K. Sparks can download Manic Mondays one through 17 in mixtape form here, and a second volume will be released once the emcee reaches number 34.
