Manic Mondays (#33)

K. Sparks may not have invented the online series, but he may well have pioneered the online series-within-a-series.  I’m referring, of course, to Spittaz, a record that received a sequel in December of ‘08 and now, with the release of Manic Monday number 33, has become a trilogy.  Like its predecessor, this Spittaz III finds Sparks and a few of his closest colleagues taking a break from high-concept rhymes to spit some freewheeling, punchline-driven verses brimming with braggadocio and pop-culture references—needless to say, fans won’t be disappointed.  F*ck Outta Here producer Big Drew delivers a level of brass bombast that would overwhelm lesser emcees, but shines when paired with the equally relentless lyricism that Sparks and his Double Up Ent. labelmates, Angelous, Nova, and Marzburg, bring to the table.  With 33 hot records and counting, K. Sparks clearly doesn’t need my advice, but if I could offer one suggestion: how about a Spittaz IV?  Actually, would five be too much to ask?
