Is there any musical work that couldn’t be improved by a 16 from Childish Gambino? OK, his flow would sound a little out of place in an operatic aria, but the Community star-turned-rap buzzmaker seems to excel on everything from smooth R&B records (see: Jhené Aiko‘s recent Bed Peace), to grimy hip-hop jams, to cuts as uncategorizable as Kenna‘s Relations. The newly-released official remix of the last-mentioned cut, which won positive reader reviews when we first featured it back in August, sees Donald Glover jumping on Chad Hugo‘s electro-funk beat to deliver a witty, lacscivious closing verse. How about it, readers: is this rendition of Relations an upgrade over the album version? Those who prefer the former can cop it now via iTunes; the latter can be found on Kenna’s recently-released Land 2 Air Chronicles II – Imitation is Suicide EP. Childish Gambino’s latest full-length, Because the Internet, is scheduled to hit record stores and online retailers Tuesday, December 17.
