Late last month, Kid Cudi reappeared on hip-hop’s radar as he rode around with Hit-Boy in his Old School Caddy and now the G.O.O.D. Music emcee is finally releasing a brand new song of his own. With his versatile and varying musical styles you really never know what to expect on a Cudi record. Is he going to hum his way through an entire song? Is he going to rap backwards? You just don’t know. Thankfully, Cudi again hits us with straight up, unaltered (and heavily emo) rapping on Just What I Am, which premiered on Complex.com earlier today. Yes, the hook is a little trippy to say the least but the rapper does in fact rap his way through his verses with help from King Chip (the rapper formerly known as Chip Tha Ripper). Equally impressive is the eerily somber production on Just What I Am, which also comes courtesy of Cudi. Hopefully, the Ohio spitter will continue this lyricism once his indicud album is released.
