Later this month, Adult Swim is set to kick off the fourth and final season of popular animated series The Boondocks. To celebrate the premiere, which fans have been awaiting since way back in 2010, COMPLEX has linked up with the cable network to produce a mixtape compilation inspired by the show. Today, we get a little taste of the dopeness in store in the form of The Boonies, a new collaborative single from A-Town rhymesayer Killer Mike and veteran West Coast beatsmith The Alchemist. Here, Mike steps into the shoes of protagonist Huey Freeman, channeling the character’s radical leanings in between references to the series’ supporting cast. To back his bars, Alc creates a menacing piano-loop beat that transitions into a more melodic, string-laced chorus. The Boondocks Mixtape currently lacks a drop date. While you wait for further details, why not check out the rapper and producer’s respective latest features, Ghetto Gospel and In Heaven’s Home?
