Koncept x Numonics - Not for Nothing

Featuring:
Producer:
Numonics
Album:
Live On

Oftentimes, when rappers get personal in their bars, they ease up on the verbal pyrotechnics and adopt a simpler style to make sure they’re understood. Not Koncept; new single Not for Nothing, part of the Brown Bag All-Star‘s newly-released collaboration with Booth-approved beatsmith Numonics, features some of the most introspective and formally complex verses we’ve heard from him to date. Backed by his partner’s mellow, jazzy production, Kon mixes bittersweet autobiographical reflections with dauntless commentary on his hustle, all the while reeling off masterful series of internal rhymes: “Had tears sittin’ there drinkin’ on Dad’s beers / The bad years feared, never shavin’ off Dad’s beard.Morningside Films provides some stylishly understated visuals to accompany the cut. You can find Not for Nothing, the previously-featured Wings and much more on Koncept and Numonics’s Live On EP, available now for free download via Audiomack.
