I don’t think you can truly appreciate the Strange Music movement until you see it live and in person. My ears are still ringing from Tech N9ne’s recent L.A. show, and next to Tech for every note was Krizz Kaliko, a fearless creative emcee who’s now determined to show the world that he can just flat out Kill Sh*t. Seven, perhaps best known as XV’s go-to-beatsmith, provides a beyond-pounding, dystopian instrumental that sounds like it came straight off the Terminator 4 soundtrack. If this beat doesn’t get you hyped you’re legally dead, and sure enough Krizz sounds more than properly inspired on the mic, dropping off a verse that covers more ground in 16 bars than most rappers cover in an album. Thankfully, both Twista and Tech N9ne follows the headliner’s lead and then some, unleashing equally potent verses when their time comes. Wack rappers, consider yourself warned. You’ve got until May 15 to get out of the game, then Krizz is dropping his Kickin and Screamin’ album and (musically) killing everyone in sight. Until then….enjoy!
