When I saw that the title of Krondon’s latest single was Lean On Me, I assumed the song would go in one of two directions; either Krondon was doing a rendition of the classic Bill Withers tune, or he was providing us with all a cup of lean we could all figuratively drink up. While neither assumption turned out to be true, the latter example is definitely more in the ballpark. Setting off the purp-ed out vibe of the track, Dj Khalil and Krondon (this is his production debut), craft a slow, hazy beat which the L.A. emcee uses to spit about drinking and smoking, with a slow, liquor doused flow. Singer Kobe (no, not that Kobe) laces the record with his smooth vocals, rarely taking the spotlight, but providing an effort that really ties the track together. Kron’s new album, Everything’s Nothing, was set to drop today, January 31 drop, but the SAS emcee wanted it to be perfect, so he has pushed the date to next week; February 7 to be exact.
