KRS-One & Buckshot ft. DJ Revolution - Survival Skills
Should the rap game be open to any shmoe who can spit a verse without dropping the mic? I’m inclined to say yes; hip-hop without the posers, hacks and novelty acts might sound like a great idea, but, as I see it, new-school sucker emcees have a very important function: they get seasoned vets steamed enough to step into the studio and lyrically annihilate them. Case in point: the newly-released title track and second single off KRS-One and Buckshot‘s forthcoming full-length, Survival Skills. Flowing over illMind‘s old-school, organ-driven beat (complete with scratches by DJ Revolution), the two mount their soapboxes to deliver a lesson in hip-hop greatness, letting all the youngsters know, “Microphones are not for these emcees who don’t have no [Survival Skills].” Buck and KRS’ collaborative LP is set to drop September 15th off Duck Down Records; in the meantime, current and aspiring beatsmiths can click here to learn how to enter DJBooth.net, Duck Down, and Mick Boogie‘s Road to Survival Production Contest!
