Little Vic ft. Kool G Rap - Caked Up

Each Dawn I Die

Almost once per week, DJBooth will feature a song that looks like this: “Local Artist ft. National Heavyweight.”  In their attempt to get some “shine” from a popular guest feature, the local/unsigned artist usually ends up being outdone by their self-recruited heavyweight.  And while the casual listener might think that newcomer Little Vic and his recruitment of iconic rapper Kool G Rap is the epitome of that formula, what they don’t know is that Vic actually listened to Kool as a child and considers the veteran his hip-hop inspiration.  On their collaborative effort, Caked Up, Vic clearly gives way to his mentor, making sure that the roles of teacher and student are recognized by everyone.  Adding a ‘70s film effect to the song is producer Big KO, but the true spotlight is on the chemistry between the two artists.
