Luke Christopher - This Old World

Luke Christopher

Luke Christopher got his 2014 off to a phenomenal start with January’s Follow Rivers and Broken People, promo singles whose combo of melodic production, emotional themes and exceptional mic work won high praise from readers. Well, it looks like he may have pulled off a hat trick; This Old World zooms out to tackle broader subject matter than its relationship-themed precedessors, while striking that same balance between lyricism and hookiness. Accompanied by ear-grabbing piano chords and a Chipmunk-pitched sample of unknown origin, Christopher attacks the mic with passion and enthusiasm, lacing his verses with words of encouragement for the listener: “Errybody got a past, I’m sayin’ you should love even if it don’t last / Better to have had than to not have had at all / If the slipper ain’t glass you can still be at the ball.” Christopher has yet to announce plans for any forthcoming projects; while you’re waiting for more info, why not take a(nother) listen to 2013’s Booth-hosted The Wonder Years (Part One) EP?
