Lunox & Astro ft. Reks - Forever & More

Statik Selektah

Though Massachusetts may never become as renowned a hip-hop state as New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania, it does boast a thriving underground scene.  On Lawrenceville natives Lunox & Astro‘s Booth debut, Forever & More, they’ve enlisted the help of a few Bay State faves.  In between the duo’s emotionless, Mobb Deep-esque verses, Mr. Grey Hairs (Reks) jumps on board to serve up his own brand of lyrical slaughter.  Fellow Lawrenceville native Statik Selektah is arguably the biggest contributor to the cut’s mood—how many other producers do you know who can pull off a sample of Sloan’s Nothing Lasts Forever Anymore?  Those tempted to dole out low ratings due to a belief that “gangster rap is dead,” should consider this: if every emcee could spit such high-caliber lyrical ammunition, would the subgenre have perished in the first place?
