Lupe Fiasco - American Terrorist III

Posted 4 years ago
Producer:
Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo
Album:
Unreleased

As the DJBooth response to the Chi-town heavyweight’s previous features attests, hip-hop heads like Lupe Fiasco best when he’s speaking truth to power. (The general public when they come across his controversial comments in interviews… not so much.) Thus, it’s not hard to imagine the shockwave that went through the Twitterverse when Wasalu Jaco unleashed the sequel-plus-one to American Terrorist, a politically-charged cut off debut set Food & Liquor. On American Terrorist III, a moody synth groove by Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo (originally featured on Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx’ Nightcall) thumps in the background as Fiasco ponders the topsy-turvy world we live in. Quoting his brother, whose experiences in the military drove him to question the received wisdom regarding his home country, he spits, “It’s silly how that our schools make us stupid and our jobs make us poor.” While this joint isn’t attached to any forthcoming project, the “III” in the title implies there’s a “II” waiting to be released—can we expect the middle installment to appear on Food & Liquor 2? Only time will tell, but fans can keep it locked to the DJBooth for all the latest news and tunes.
