Lupe Fiasco's The Cool

The question of the day is: how long should an artist wait before dropping a remixed version of their single?  For most artists, the answer to this question is “not long after the original is released.”  But, for Chicago’s ‘other’ hip-hop hierarchy incumbent, Lupe Fiasco, anytime seems to be appropriate.  Ten months after his sophomore LP, The Cool, landed in stores, Fiasco has decided to release a remix of Paris Tokyo – a song he selected as a single roughly five months ago.  Featuring guest verses from Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D. and Q-Tip (whose music he fudged during last year’s VH1 Hip-Hop Honors), and the singing accompaniment from FNF’s First Lady, Sarah Green, the remix proves that for some artists, there’s no such thing as too late.
