Mac Miller ft. Dash, Ab-Soul, Vince Staples & Retch - Amen

Posted 2 years ago
Larry Fisherman

On a recent promo cut, Mac Miller wondered whether he might be hip-hop’s version of el Diablo. The fact that his latest feature is called Amen may seem contradictory at first blush, but hit play and you’ll quickly discover ain’t nothing holy about it but the title. Miller’s alter ego, Larry Fisherman, mans the mixing boards on this unreleased jam, turning in an ultra-minimal arrangement driven by a sickly electronic pulse. (The famous Amen break does not make an appearance, in case you were wondering.) Rather than blazing his unconventional beat in person, the artist delegates that duty to a quartet talented homies: Dash, Ab-Soul, Vince Staples and Retch take turns delivering grimy, slow-flowed verses. This joint isn’t part of a larger set, but fans can keep it locked for the latest on Mac’s 2014 plans, which reportedly involve as many as four new projects. Additionally, watch our pages for the latest on Staples’s soon-to-be-released street album, Shyne Coldchain II.
