Machine Gun Kelly - Skate Cans

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
LT Moe
Album:
Black Flag

While skateboarding often gets associated with rock/alternative music, it has always had an equally strong relationship with hip-hop. Perhaps it comes from both having counterculture roots. Furthering the ties between the genre and the sport is Machine Gun Kelly, whose new video for Skate Cans depicts the emcee and skater Ryan Sheckler sneaking into Hollywood High, an infamous skate spot. As Sheckler flips and grinds, Kelly showcases his verbal tricks atop a frenzied beat by LT Moe, featuring some impressive scratching. Kelly pulls off the lyrical equivalent of the elusive 900 spin, nailing his landing with a sharp, intense flow that cuts through the aggressive production. You can find this effort on the Cleveland native’s forthcoming Black Flack mixtape, which has not yet been assigned an official release date.
