MadKem ft. Skyzoo - Malcolm Browne (The BQE Remix)
On June 11, 1963, Buddhist monk Thích Qu?ng ??c sat down in the middle of a busy Saigon intersection and allowed himself to be doused with kerosene and burned alive as a protest against the corruption of the US-backed Ngô ?ình Di?m regime. Journalist Malcolme Browne documented the scene in a photo which, in addition to being among the most striking images of the Vietnam War era, provides a perfect illustration of just how how hot Booth newcomer MadKem‘s mic skills are. (That was a long walk, huh?) This new single, a remix of a joint originally featured on a 2010 DJ K.O. comp album, finds beatsmith DaveNotti layering staccato organ chords over boom-bap percussion as the South Jamaica, Queens native informs us of the grisly fate awaiting those who don’t pay him his proper respect. Booth fave Skyzoo guests, reminding us that he’s more than just another“bookbag” (that is, backpacker) in a guest verse as street-certified as it is lyrically head-spinning. Craving more hard-hitting selections? Then be sure to cop Madkem’s latest LP, Charles Workman, when it drops this fall.
