Confessions of a Teenager EP

No, your ears and eyes don’t deceive you; that soulful, seasoned voice is really coming from the teenage star of the video below. On her debut DJBooth feature, Sunday Afternoon, 16-year-old Cali singer Mali Nicole exhibits a vocal presence so far beyond her years it ain’t even funny. C Ballin provides a mellow, hip hop-infused backdrop for the artist’s impressive verses, which detail an evening of innocent fun with her homies. OK, maybe “innocent” ain’t the right word—Nicole manages to incorporate a reference to molly, and the official visuals involve some good, old-fashioned underage drinking—but those elements hardly compromise the record’s carefree, breezy vibe. Sunday Afternoon is the lead single off Mali Nicole’s forthcoming Confessions of a Teenager EP. Keep it locked for the latest on the set, which currently lacks a drop date.
