Producer:
Trackslayerz
Album:
Overnight EP

Attention rap heavyweights: Marc Antoni‘s got his eye on the throne, and all who get in the way risk being bulldozed. On Should’ve Known, a standout cut off his recent, Booth-sponsored EP, the Boston native gives potential rivals fair warning of his unstoppable drive to succeed. Antoni kicks the record off from a position of self-doubt, asking God for the strength to continue his grind and the judgment to distinguish true friends from impostors: “In this game, these n*ggas will act loyal from afar, but you can’t tell if they’re real with a padded bra..” Joining the headliner over the Trackslayerz’ crisp blend of piano chords, percussion and synth ambiance, R.I. repper (and freestyle alum) Jon Hope plays the role of the seasoned vet, suggesting Marc disregard the haters and give his craft his full attention: “My advice is to do it from the heart, and the light from your soul will illuminate the art.” It’s a recipe for success if I ever heard one and, judging by his supremely confident closing 16, Antoni took Hope’s words to heart. For more fresh jams from this rising star, check out his Booth-sponsored Overnight EP, released last week and available here for free download.
