Mario ft. Gucci Mane & Sean Garrett - Break Up

In his review of Mario‘s third album, Go!, our own Nathan S. was quick to note how much the singer had matured since releasing the Biz Markie-inspired Just a Friend ‘02.  That evolution continues on his upcoming senior album, And Then There Was Me.  After two buzz singles (and a leak which was later taken down), we finally have an official single.  Though his woman is sick of his frequent infidelities, Mr. Barrett makes a strong argument as to why she shouldn’t Break Up with him: she’ll get the same problems with her next man, but none of the TLC he’s giving her.  While Gucci Mane‘s guest verse (no, this is not some late April Fools’ joke) might seem unnecessary to some, Sean Garrett‘s writing and background vocals, together with Bangladesh‘s repetitive, percussion-heavy beat (similar to his work on A Milli and Diva) add up to what could be one of the most widely-spun singles of spring/summer ‘09!  For more of Mario’s matured artistry, pick up a copy of And Then There Was Me

D.N.A. when it drops this summer.
