Yours Truly: Revisited Mixtape

Floetry alumnus Marsha Ambrosius has yet to release a studio album, but it seems that her solo career is already going swimmingly—her second mixtape, Yours Truly, was so successful that the singer has opted for a re-release featuring brand new tracks.  Leaked via Ambrosius’ Twitter,  Heartbreaker features all the elements that made YT a fan favorite the first time around: Aftermath in-house producer Focus (recently featured on Mr. Probz’, All Falls Down) delivers a brassy funk-soul instrumental as Marsha lets an unappreciative fella know she won’t be taking him back anytime soon.  This record’s theme is practically as old as soul itself, but Ambrosius approaches it with more energy than most—her full-voiced vocals, peppered with melismatic runs and breathy interjections, make Heartbreaker one of the most powerful R&B kiss-offs in recent memory.  If you agree that Ambrosius and Focus’ retro-soul sound merits another go-round, stay tuned; Yours Truly: Revisited is set to drop “soon.”
