¡MAYDAY! x MURS - Serge’s Song

If you’re anything like me, your first thought upon reading the title of Florida crew ¡MAYDAY! and West Coast rhymesayer MURS‘s latest joint single will be something along the lines of “Who’s Serge?” After a listen to Serge’s Song, I’m still not sure, but he must be pretty f**king cool to deserve such a dope, thought-provoking musical tribute. Here, ¡MAYDAY!‘s upbeat, funky live-band grooves set the stage for verses detailing a prison inmate’s daily trials and tribulations, as well as the collaborators’ own struggles to keep it real. The official visuals, crafted by an unknown director, offer further insight into the record’s political message. ¡MURSDAY! is scheduled to drop via Strange Music on June 10, at which point it will be available for free streaming in The DJBooth.
