For some of you, he’s the Cali rep down with Raekwon’s Ice Water camp. For others, he’s just another artist on the come-up that you’ve yet to experience. Wherever you are in your understanding of his place in the game, Sacramento native Mean Doe Green, formerly known as Doey Rock, is set to release his forthcoming album, Black Suits & Shovels via DJBooth this Wednesday. For those of you anticipating the drop, as you should be, we have a world premiere in the form of The Bridge. This collaborative effort between Green and Brandan Smith on the hook speaks to “seeing the light at the end of the tunnel,” even when times get rough and haters abound. Smith’s hook and soulful adlibs ride perfectly over the clap-heavy and subtle guitar laced track produced by Hippie Sabotage, while Green spits inspiration to get us all motivated. The west has been on the rise lately, and we can now add Green to the roster of MC’s carrying the state on his back. The Black Suits & Shovels get broken out in two days, Wednesday, March 9.
