More Merch

Although highly anticipated album More Merch won’t be released until tomorrow (on DJBooth, of course), it feels like Christmas came a few weeks early now that we have some Rapity Rap under our proverbial trees. Produced by MeLo-X himself, with the help of Kendrick Lamar and Mickey Factz on the vocals, Rap proves yet again why these three cats are some of the most prominent upcoming artists in hip-hop. The beat is a repetitive chopped up and faded synth pattern with enough bass drum hits to get your head bobbin or trunk bumpin, while lyrically MeLo kicks off the vocal festivities with sharp rhymes and witty punch lines, nicely setting the stage for Kendrick to follow. Lamar, with the same voice I have when someone wakes me up in the middle of the night on the phone, KILLS the track and actually left me feeling bad for Mickey to follow. However, by changing the flow to a slower pace, Factz also manages to rip the record. In fact, I challenge you guys to find any other song with three emcees going this hard. Go ahead, I’ll give you a moment….
