Cookin Soul & NahRight Present: 1:00 A.M. And Rising

On their 1:00 A.M. and Rising mixtape, production trio Cookin’ Soul will team up with NahRight.com to present a 12-track tribute to the grind, with each cut representing one hour on the clock.  What time of day does this newly-leaked record, Mickey FactzFlying Balloons correspond to?  My first thought was ‘early afternoon,’ but the chilly organ chords at the center of the track’s mellow instrumental sound a little late-night, as does the NY emcee’s “...fly to the moon” hook.  That’s all speculation, though, and Factz’ characteristically clever, endlessly quotable rhymes make this cut an enjoyable listen no matter the hour—I have no clue what it means to be “the Barack Obama of online drama,” but that line’s going to be on repeat in my head for a good long while.  Brimming with laid-back old-school appeal, Flying Balloon is sure to leave fans wondering what else Cookin’ Soul have cooked up for their forthcoming mixtape (scheduled to drop in the next few weeks).  And don’t forget: Factz is set to step into the Booth with an exclusive freestyle sometime in July.
