Life Doesn't Frighten Me LP

You don’t name yourself after American history’s two greatest civil rights leaders if you’re not dead serious about your convictions and determined to make a difference. True to their collective stage name, Malcolm & Martin don’t just make fresh tunes: they make Movement Music. This newly-leaked cut, the retroactive title track of their previous mixtape, finds Queens native KB Imean and South Central resident Styliztik Jones delivering a condensed version of their music mission statement. Accompanied by Marco Polo‘s boom-bap percussion and crisp glass-taps, the DJ Revolution-cosigned twosome share their fist-pumping passion for their craft, in the process showcasing some seriously dizzying penmanship: “Keep me prone to the pain of the path I’m on / In the zone of the game I’m a gastronome” At the end of the day, though, their message is as simple as their rhymes are complex: “No music no life.” Does this lyrically-astute banger leave you revved up and ready to fight the power? More revolutionary jams await on Malcolm & Martin’s Life Doesn’t Frighten Me LP, due out Feb. 1, 2011 via Soulspazm.
