Early February’s Street Certified saw Mobb Deep soliciting the guest services of Brownsville bruisers M.O.P. On the latest single off their eighth full-length, All a Dream, the Brooklynites link up with yet another of the Northeast’s most powerful crews. I’m talking, of course, about The Lox. Despite the sheer lyrical firepower at their disposal, the headliners forego the grimy aggression of previous singles in favor of something a little higher-concept. In reflective verses, Havoc, Prodigy, Jadakiss, Styles P. and Sheek Louch admit that the lives they’re living are so dope, they sometimes wonder whether it’s All a Dream. As they count their blessings, Omaas Keith and Miachel Uzowaru serve up a spacey, opera-infused instrumental backdrop, flipping the obligatory Biggie sample on the record’s hook. Feeling it? Then be sure to pick up The Infamous Mobb Deep when it hits record stores next Tuesday, April 1.
