Earlier this month, Queensbridge heavyweights Mobb Deep gave fans the first taste of their eighth studio album in the form of lead single Taking You off Here. A gritty street banger with a throwback vibe, the cut won high marks from our readership. If you were feeling that jam, I have no doubt that the freshly-released follow-up, Say Something, will be right up your alley. Booth fave !llmind goes for atmosphere on the production tip, accenting an eerie bell loop and plodding rhythm section with erratic hi-hat clicks. As usual, Havoc and Prodigy‘s verses are masterworks of slow-burning aggression. Among the numerous faceless foes they bust shots at, a certain Kendrick Lamar comes under fire; on the front, Havoc spits, “F*ck the King of New York, H been royal.The Infamous Mobb Deep is scheduled to drop Tuesday, April 1, via Infamous Records. In the meantime, of course, you can keep it locked for more fresh singles off the set.
