Nappy Roots ft. Greg Nice - No Static

Posted 8 years ago
Producer:
Sol Messiah
Album:
The Humdinger

Wait a second… Nappy Roots still exists? Yes, folks, you read that right; everyone’s favorite Louisville quintet is still alive and kicking after dropping off the face of the earth for half a decade or so. While the departure of their ringleader, R. Prophet and their dismissal from Atlantic Records has forced them to reshape their identity, one thing remains constant: nobody captures the Southern comfort mentality quite like Nappy. No Static, the current single off their long-awaited album, The Humdinger (due in August), details the pitfalls of living a life of excess. Producer Sol Messiah incorporates Greg Nice’s instantly-recognizable voice on the hook, which samples Nice and Smooth’s classic Sometimes I Rhyme Slow. Aww naw, Nappy’s back and here to stay.
