Nappy Roots - Imma Be Alright

Posted about 7 years ago
Producer:
Je'kob Washington [for McPhly Ent.]
Album:
Pursuit of Nappyness

Those who follow the Nappy Roots’ know that the Kentucky natives started as an independent group during the late ‘90s, rising to fame on the strength of their storytelling abilities and their funky sound.  Fresh off a short hiatus following their third album, The Humdinger, the Roots have stockpiled more than enough ammo to break back into the scene.  Their fourth album, The Pursuit of Nappyness, will be their second since moving from Atlantic to NREG/Fontana/Universal, and, judging by lead single Imma Be Alright, they’re still perfectly happy with their new digs.  With an uplifting message, intelligent lyrics, and an infectious, Je’Kob Washington-produced beat, this is a feel-good jam that’ll satisfy Nappy devotees and new fans alike. The Pursuit of Nappyness is scheduled to drop in the first quarter of next year; if this cut is any indication, the set will have fans feelin’ Alright well into 2010
