Reparations EP

Nik SB may be new to both the Booth and the game, but he’s already eyeing rap’s upper echelons. After a listen to EP single Highyeena, I’d be hard-pressed to call his ambition misplaced. Right from the get-go, the Miami rhymesayer separates himself from the pack by delivering some of the most elaborately bugged out opening bars I’ve heard in a minute: “The born-again sinner with the shortest temper / I might be more hotheaded than Mike after he got his Pepsi deal / Or higher than Lisa Leslie standing next to Joe Pesci / in a pair of 1970 conceptual Giuseppe heels.” Joining Nik over Nuri‘s production, a slow-burning affair that gradually intensifies over the course of each verse, Escargot spitter VURN contributes a world-weary closing 16. Interest piqued? More awaits on the artist’s Reparations EP, available now for free streaming via Soundcloud.
