Nike Nando - 1988 (The Crack Era)

Posted about 4 years ago
Producer:
Baze
Album:
SpreadLove

Part of a rising generation of emcees who came of age at the height of the Crack Era, Nike Nando offers his perspective on the rap game and the world around him on the inaugural song release off his forthcoming SpreadLove LP. Despite what the title may suggest, 1988 is less focused on the past, or its eches in the present, than on the future of the Maryland rhymesayer’s hustle. As the man himself puts it over Baze‘s dreamy, jazz-infused chopped vocal beat, “All I really wanna do is make some money, kick flows, move to Los Angeles and cop a six four.” All the luxurious accoutrements and fly women, however, are secondary to his main objective: escape from the ‘hood. Like what you’re hearing? You can expect plenty more fresh tunes where 1988 came from on the artist’s latest street album, scheduled for release October 11.
