Nikki Lynette - Live and Let Die

Album:
Roses N' Guns 2: The BADDER ASSED Mixtape That Rocks

Though Booth fave Laws recently released an entire street album based around the solo work of Sir Paul McCartney, the Floridian emcee neglected to rework one of the most popular cuts in the ex-Beatle’s catalog, Bond theme Live and Let Die (OK, that one was with Wings… but still). On the latest single off her recent, Booth-hosted mixtape, Chitown emcee/singer Nikki Lynette picks up the slack… sorta. In accordance with her project’s name, Lynette and co-producer Mike Hennessy look not to the original, but to Guns ‘n’ Roses’ cover, flipping Axl, Slash & co’s crunchier instrumental stylings into a backdrop for the freestyle series alum‘s frantically-flowed motivational lyricism. When she’s not exhorting fans to live for themselves and “keep pursuing [their] dreams”, she gets busy decimating gender stereotypes: “In this world, I don’t wanna be sweet / I am not flesh—reinforced concrete… I have no breasts, these are weapons in my D-cups” Digging this blistering (yet positive) banger? There’s plenty more where this came from on Roses N’ Guns 2: The BADDER ASSED Mixtape That Rocks, available here for free streaming and download.
