Novel ft. Muzi - Heat The Night

Featuring:
Producer:
Novel
Album:
Red Wine & Ambien

Whether or not Novel was thinking about John Ball’s classic novel In the Heat of the Night when he wrote standout selection Heat the Night or not, the two do share some qualities, namely an exploration of the pressures and forces that shape the lives of black men. Per usual the versatile producer/rapper/singer/human etc. handles things behind the boards, crafting a purposefully understated beat filled with light synths and metronome percussion meant for contemplative late night drives. With some help on the hook from frequent collaborator Muzi (see also, No More), Novel lays down more of his rapsy vocals, detailing a life spent constantly searching for the next better thing: “The music business like the dope game / man this beat is my cocaine.” Sometimes, no matter how hard you work to escape, you find yourself in the same place you started. For more nocturnal heat, and some music to play during the daylight hours, be sure to check out Novel’s recently released Red Wine & Ambien album, available for free stream and download via (who else?) your good friends at The DJBooth.
